Chavutti Thirumal | Massage Treatment performed with the feet
Chavutti Thirumal Massage
Chavutti Thirumal was born in Kerala, in the South of India, the homeland of the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu and of the classical dance of Kathakali which, together with Yoga, uses Chavutti to promote strength and flexibility in the body. The art of this ancient healing massage is rooted in the science of Ayurveda and is still passed on from father to son in families of physicians.
The healer keeps the balance with a rope and massages the body with the feet, using medicated oils chosen according to the ayurvedic constitution of the receiver. The masseur moves rhythmically, like in a dance, and calibrates the weight with precision to deeply relax and stretch the muscles. Chavutti activates the 108 energetic centres (marmas) and the corresponding channels (nadis) by covering the length of the whole body with long, graceful and continuous strokes.
It is an extraordinary and powerful treatment to develop the connection between mind, body and soul: it has the power to relax, realign, detox, strengthen, tone, nourish, stimulate, give courage, set free and harmonise physically, mentally and spiritually.
